Partners in Aging, Inc., is a 501 (c) (3) organization, made up of a collaboration of area profit and non-profit organizations.
The mission of Partners in Aging is to improve access and resources to older adults and their families in the Fredericksburg community.
Partners in Aging grew out of an existing group called Senior Advisory Council, which was an effort by the Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging, Senior Navigator and Mary Washington Hospital to bring together organizations that assist seniors in the community.
It was anticipated that through combined efforts there could be greater impact for older adults. In 2009, the Senior Advisory Council determined the need to become a not-for-profit organization and obtained a 501(C) 3 status.
Partners in Aging has a Board of Directors as well as representation from over 30 community partners. Currently Partners in Aging has had 4 major initiatives in the community: The Art of Aging Life Begins at 50 Expo, Caregivers Symposium, Operation Medicine Cabinet and providing outreach to employed caregivers through seminars and brown bag lunches.
In 2011 two needs were identified and added to our goals. A short term goal of providing aging seminars to the community on a monthly basis which will begin in October and a longer term goal of helping our community become ready for the Age Wave.
