Our beloved friend and Board member, Betty Bazemore, was an amazing individual. She left this Earth a much better place with all of the goodness she brought to those in her community. Not only was she an advocate for older adults, she was also involved in children’s causes and very involved with her church and had a love for music.
The Partners in Aging Board has unanimously voted to establish a respite grant for family caregivers in her honor. This grant will be aimed at families who are above poverty level, but cannot afford to hire caregivers for their loved ones. The grant will be given one-time for respite for either an 8 hour or two 4 hour care. The application can be viewed or downloaded HERE.
We all have received calls from those families who are in need, but fall between the two worlds of Medicaid and ability to pay for services. Many times we have to tell them that there is no option for care…….but now this is our chance to be able to offer a solution with the grant!
We have established a subcommittee of the Board to review applications from families. We are asking for you and your organizations help to fund this grant. PIA has started the seed money of $500 for the grant. Any amount would be helpful. We hope that we can continue this grant and for it to become self-sustaining.
We are asking for donations to this fund be written to Partners in Aging with a memo for Betty Bazemore Memorial respite grant.
Your check can be mailed to: PO Box 8237, Fredericksburg, VA 22404. Or use our PayPal option to make your donation with the card of your choice.
We know we can make this a success…let’s join together and make sure that families receive respite when needed.
